DFC Preview: Satanus, Lord of Purgatory

I know it’s a little late for Halloween, but I couldn’t resist. I’m sure you saw this card in the trailer, but without nay text. I’m here to fix this problem:
Remember Blackbriar Thorn? That’s essentially what this guy is, but to everyone. He’s pretty straight forward, but here’s a few things to keep in mind:
- He’s the Lord of Purgatory. The forces of Purgatory were the ones rebelling against Neron and he’s the one with the big army. The already preview Etrigan Demon is a small booster for your guys, but this one is even more so.
- It’s probably assumed you have played To Reign in Hell already. Since you really shouldn’t be concerned with your endurance total, fire as many Magic plot twist cards as you can.
- His effect won’t work on himself, but he does have Range, so get him behind one of the many good six drops Shadowpact has to offer and fire off Magic cards.
- Shadowpact still has access to Conjuration, which means you can play this guy on turn 6 if you so wanted too. Unless you have To Reign in Hell, in which case you might be tempted to play 2 Conjurations and have him out on turn 5.
- All of the plot twists in DFC for the Shadowpact are Magic cards, so he literally works with every card in your deck.
- How cool is that art
Simple, effective, and menacing. This is what I love about this card. The only thing I have to ask is, will you Reign in Hell?

Last year, I felt that my life was missing an integral part and I went searching for it in 2008. I think that I have found that missing piece and my goal for 2009 is to sieze it. It won’t be easy, but nothing that’s worth having in the world comes easy.
